Tough blue

Life's kaleidoscope. Far out. New Dimensions. Disillusionment. Colourful images. Tough blue. Focussed efforts. Emotions unshackled. Lofy ideas. Rapid changes. Random realities. Game on. Choice.

Tech shopping?

With easy plug-and-play gadgets and user friendly tech available nowadays, it should be no surprise that the 'assembling' once considered to be domain of a specialist, is now open to the likes of me. Thankfully, my wallet is not what it was, otherwise would have become bankrupt doing stupid things like gadget shopping! Not for me. And definitely not now. Before busting bank for gadgets, check if you can assemble 'em. It won't bleed you.
At the end of the hour, what was in a box was sorted, assembled, installed and working.... No techies, only dummies...
Removed internal HD from a non-working pc and reformatted it. Now using it as an 'external hd' (just a casing is cheap!)
Reformatted the external disk to back up both pc (NTFS format) as well as ps3 (FAT32 format) data.
Replaced battery inside ups, after old one conked out. This one did it just to prove that casing could be re-used.
Never knew so many options were possible...Still can't believe the ease in which putting gadgets together has evolved to. Now back to work...

Online forums

Over the past few months, I've started to do some serious 'web crawling' for some tech deals and on the look-out for a few quick D-I-Y tech updates. The end result has been so rewarding only due to one huge fact, Online Forums. This seemingly invisible yet thriving arena full of tech gladiators and anonymous gurus, all with the intent of sharing knowledge on the things which should be commonsense for them, but of immense help to newbies like me. Just simple stuff like partitioning your external hard drive in both NTFS & FAT32 (more than 32GB) formats could be very challenging if not for these forums.
Thank you for all the posts, all the troubleshooting tips, the step-by-step guides, the knowledge base, and the occasional video guide too. And on behalf of a few gamer friends, would also like to thank all the 'walk-through' forums.. :)

A year on....

I'm not certain about what the future holds. It was certain, atleast to me, a year back, when I called it quits that 2010-11 would be all about rearranging priorities, and more importantly down time with family. Atleast for a year, I told myself. 4th of July it was.
A year on, after enjoying the period of loads of family time, and gainful employment (i.e. eating, sleeping, and lots of tv, maybe a bit of freelancing on the side), I am all padded up (literally too!) and ready to begin again a new innings.
